Swell Tofino is offering both Basic First Aid (previously OFA1) and Intermediate First Aid courses (Previously OFA 2).
New first aid requirements for workplaces in BC come into effect November 1, 2024. These are amendments to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations for the first time in the past 20 years. Even though these changes may initially seem intimidating, the changes are more practical for workplaces.
The biggest change within these factors is point number 2. Now businesses that are less than 30 min from a BCEHS station are considered “Not Remote” perviously this was 20 min from the hospital. This should have a positive affect for business on the west coast. Specifically Ucluelet.
To understand what first aid certification requirements for your workplace in BC are, each workplace should complete a First Aid Assesment Worksheet and then refer to the Minimum First Aid Requirements document.
Here’s a video from WorksafeBC about the updated First Aid Requirements explained above.
Swell Education is Tofino’s local certification provider. Join instructor Emre Bosut for first aid and CPR training courses that allow participants to develop practical life saving skills in a way that reflects the needs on the west coast.
