During the health crisis created by Covid-19 our own mental health can take a toll. This online courses offers practical tools to help you take care of yourself.
This online course has a focus on helping you understand the effects of stress, loss, trauma and grief, with emphasis on self-care and personal protection. Learn about the different types of stress. How to recognize stress reactions within yourself. And build effective tools to deal with stress before it becomes overwhelming.
This course can also be taken in combination with the Red Cross Caring for Others online course to supplement and strengthen an overall wellness program.
Duration
Online: 45 – 90 minutes
Online course is self-paced. You may leave the course at any time and can resume where you left off.
Appropriate Age / Prerequisites
14 years of age or with adult support (recommended).
You will require access to a computer/mobile device and internet to complete this course.
How it works

The course is completely online and can be completed at your own pace. The structure of the course uses the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model.
Once you’ve signed up through online booking below or getting in touch with us by phone / text / email you we will add your registration information to the course and in 24 hours you will receive an email from the Canadian Red Cross with more details of how to access the online training.
This includes the following steps:
Log in to redcross.ca/myrc using the email address you’ve provided.
When you are on the myrc website click on:
My Profile –> My Online Courses –> Choose Language –> Enter Course
We’re also here to assist you through the whole online training process, from signing up to working through the material.
Online 10 year certification
Upon completion on the course you will receive a printable certification valid for 10 years.
Completion of the course includes a 5 question online test. You have an unlimited amount of tries to complete this test. This just serves as extra proof that the you’ve completed the training. Again, don’t worry about testing, we’re here for assistance and can also help you through this process. Mostly, you’ll come out of this course with an action plan for your own self care.
